A new approach to my New Years Resolution and what I did wrong in the past.

For as long as I can remember, keeping up my physical appearance has always been important. I never said it out loud or admitted it to myself or probably anyone else but it was obvious in the way I dressed and carried myself. I took pride in always looking better than "presentable". I didn't have to work too hard at my physique until a few years after graduating from college. I thought that my level of exercise in all my years of organized sports was the only reason I stayed in shape and was generally always happy. I was wrong. It was more than that. I maintained healthy relationships, had a strong supportive group of people around me during stressful times, didn't worry about money even though I didn't have much, was in a serious loving relationship with the man I ended up marrying, had a strong faith base, and a positive outlook on where my life was going and what goals I wanted to pursue. Notice, I didn’t mention having great nutrition AT ALL. While I didn’t eat junk ALL the time, I certainly wasn’t juicing, drinking smoothies, or eating salads every day. I was conscious of what was on my plate but most of all I was BALANCED in many areas of the circle of life.

Shortly after getting married, I took an interest in the link between nutrition and disease. Over the course of 6 years I became passionate about it and often times, obsessive. The reasons for my obsession I believe to be justified however, the BALANCE that I mentioned earlier became less and less stable. While my commitment to eating healthier brought an abundance of positive benefits to our family and will continue to serve us for the rest of our lives, I am certain that there is more to happiness than being a perfect eater and exercising. I owe this knowledge and understanding to my Juiceplus+ family as well as the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and fellow health coach mentors. I am over the moon excited to share with others how to live life healthy and joy-filled without having to diet or focus on one crazy lifestyle after another. I’ve been that person! It’s a lonely place. It took me far too long to understand that while nutritious food is powerful healing medicine we ALSO need to give our body nourishment in the form of better relationships, career fulfillment, proper rest, hydration, physical activity, and spirituality. As the new year approaches I’m taking full inventory of all areas of my life so I can take a different approach to my next new year's resolution. Part of my resolution will be to ask for help. Even health coaches need a health coach! I’d love to be part of your resolutions as well. Helping others feeds me on a deeper level than all the broccoli and beets in the world. Please contact me to discuss where you may have lost your balance and let’s talk about the possibilities of a healthier, less stressed, well rested, more organized, balanced YOU.
